Amstelveen gardens are the opposite of Amsterdam: larger, greener, usually reachable from the street, and often forty years old.

What that means in practice

  • Mature trees. Much of Amstelveen was planted in the sixties and seventies. Those trees are now large enough that pruning is tree work, not garden work, and felling one may need a municipal permit.
  • Real lawns. Large enough to be worth maintaining properly rather than replacing — scarifying, feeding and reseeding rather than turf.
  • Access. Usually a side or back entrance, which keeps the labour on construction jobs considerably lower than in the city.

Tree felling permits

Amstelveen requires a permit for felling above a certain trunk diameter, and the rules differ from Amsterdam. We check before quoting; a tree removed without a permit is a fine for the owner, not the contractor.

How working with us actually goes

You send a short description of the job. We come and look, in person, and you get a written quote with the work broken down per item — no lump sum that hides what you are paying for.

  • We speak English on site and in writing.
  • The quote is fixed unless you change the job; if we hit something we could not see beforehand, you hear it before we carry on.
  • We work across Amstelveen, Amsterdam-Zuid and Ouderkerk, so travel is not billed as a separate surprise.
  • Green waste is removed and disposed of properly.

If you are renting, check with your landlord first: in the Netherlands the division between tenant and owner for garden work is set in the rental contract, and it decides who pays.
