Amsterdam gardens are small, old and hard to reach. All three change what the work costs, and none of them show up in a price per square metre.

Three things specific to this city

  • Access through the house. Most gardens inside the ring have no back entrance. Every bag of sand and every slab goes through your hallway, and that roughly doubles the labour on a construction job.
  • Peat. The ground sinks, continuously. Any paving laid without a proper base will be uneven within a few years — this is the single most common reason people call us back.
  • Neighbours at one metre. Hedge heights, overhanging branches and root damage are governed by the Dutch civil code, and in a city garden they come up constantly.

Districts we work in

Centrum, De Pijp, Oud-Zuid, Oost, Noord, West and Nieuw-West, plus the garden villages on the edges.

How working with us actually goes

You send a short description of the job. We come and look, in person, and you get a written quote with the work broken down per item — no lump sum that hides what you are paying for.

  • We speak English on site and in writing.
  • The quote is fixed unless you change the job; if we hit something we could not see beforehand, you hear it before we carry on.
  • We work across Amsterdam and the surrounding municipalities, so travel is not billed as a separate surprise.
  • Green waste is removed and disposed of properly.

If you are renting, check with your landlord first: in the Netherlands the division between tenant and owner for garden work is set in the rental contract, and it decides who pays.
